Digital design engineer - Computer architect

Are you interested in microprocessor architecture and design? We are looking for experienced computer architects and design engineers to join our processor team to develop future RISC-V microprocessors.

As a digital design engineer at Cobham Gaisler you will take on a leading role in our RISC-V processor development. You will also have the opportunity to be responsible for parts or the complete development process of system-on-chip designs based on our IP cores, from design and verification through implementation in the target technology to prototype validation. The development is mainly performed using VHDL and targets ASIC as well as FPGA. As part of our hardware team, you will also be involved in the development and maintenance of our IP library that supports all major EDA tools and will work with programmable logic devices from Microsemi, Xilinx, and Altera as well as front-end ASIC design and verification. Our hardware portfolio consists of everything from bus infrastructure, system peripherals, and communication controllers up to microprocessors. Cobham Gaisler is a customer-oriented company with fast response to market demands. You will also take part in international development projects where short travels may be required. The position is based at our office in central Gothenburg, Sweden.

Engineering education; at least 5 years of experience preferred, with previous experience with FPGA and/or ASIC development. Knowledge in computer architecture and microprocessor design is a must. We require experience with VHDL, Verilog and C programming. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, together with a strong general interest in new technologies and an analytical mindset. Applicants need to have prior experience in some of the following areas:
• Computer architecture, microprocessor design, RISC-V, SPARC.
• FPGA tools from Altera, Microsemi and Xilinx.
• ASIC design using Synopsys and Cadence synthesis tools, DFT and PG.
• ASIC/FPGA design for aerospace applications.
