Subject area
The position focuses on technology with a specialisation in building science. This includes all construction design and installation techniques for sustainable construction linked to agricultural buildings as well as digitization and sensor technology. Examples of buildings are stables, warehouses, machine halls and greenhouses. Agriculture is here to be seen in its broad sense and includes production of animals as well as agricultural and horticultural crops. The activity is mainly within building science, but the professor should also be able to support the field technology for plant production. Building science covers the building as a whole, including construction, the adaptation to the production system and the surrounding area, the building as such, and technology and the environment inside and around the building.

Duties
The professor is expected to strengthen and develop research, undergraduate and postgraduate education in the field of technology. This requires the ability to build a productive research environment with a long-term focus on sustainable production systems. The professor is expected to develop a strong research environment characterized by competitive research applications for external funding, international publishing, and successful postgraduate education. The professor will be responsible for and contribute to the education of the subject at all levels. The professor is expected to develop cooperation with national and international actors and actively participate in the field of relevant policy processes.

Qualifications

• Qualifying to be employed as a professor is the one who has demonstrated both scientific and educational skills.
• The applicant must be scientifically skilled in the field of employment and have a PhD and competence as Docent (Associate Professor) or equivalent.
• The applicant should be pedagogically skilled and possess the ability to integrate teaching with the role as a researcher.
• The examination of the teaching proficiency will be given the same attention as the examination of the scientific skills.

Assessment criteria
Assessment for the appointment will be based on the degree to which the candidate possesses the skills to qualify for the position. In addition, the degree of administrative and other skills relevant to the duties of the employment will be considered. Precedence is given to applicants with good leadership skills and documented experience of or potential to build strong research environments. Documented interest in interdisciplinary research and the ability to interact and network with actors inside and outside the academic world are prioritized. The position requires that the applicant has good communication skills and well-developed competence in English. The candidate should be able to work in a Scandinavian language no later than after 2 years after the appointment.
