Legal Support, a part of SMS Legal, is responsible for enabling the business to take risk informed and balanced decisions across all legal disciplines, by providing qualitative legal support. This requires accuracy, strong integrity and solid business understanding, as well as proficiency across legal and compliance disciplines. We are now looking for a confident and proven legal professional to take on the position as Legal Counsel – a versatile position where you get to balance your dedication to business law with your business-driven mind, in a truly global setting.

Your mission – Empower the business to make confident decisions

As Legal Counsel, you provide legal advice and identify legal risks within all fields of business law; including intellectual property, R&D, general contracts and distribution and agency. You manage larger projects such as mergers and corporate acquisitions, litigation matters, software development and licensing. Legal Support continuously ensure that our organization is up to date and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. This includes implementation of relevant policies and procedures, as well as management of legal training and legal risk management of agreements.

In this position, you report directly to the Head of Legal Support. Some international travel, as well as travel between Stockholm and Sandviken, is a natural part of the job. The location of the position is either Sandviken or Stockholm.

Your character – An experienced legal professional with a strong drive to succeed

You have a Swedish Master of Law degree (Sw: juristkandidatexamen), and at least five years’ experience working at a reputable business law firm, or within a corporate in-house legal organization with international matters. You also have the legal experience to allow you to act independently and find legally adequate solutions to new and various situations. You have solid experience from independently negotiating a variety of commercial agreements and experience from M&A, competition law and digitalization matters are advantageous. As we act in a global setting, you need excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing, while proficiency in Swedish and German is beneficial.
