Stockholm Headhunting has been commissioned to find a senior Android developer to Fishbrain, the world largest social platform for people who love fishing. It’s the most popular hobby in the world and Fishbrains ambition is to revolutionize the way anglers connect, find fishing spots, and log catches with help from over 7 million unique registered users.

Fishbrain is an online logging, photo-sharing and social networking service that enables the users to record data about and take pictures of catches, and share them either publicly or privately on the social networking platforms. Fishbrain is the foursquare of fishing with a unique knowledge collection of fishing spots and catches connected to them. 

With people all over the world frequently using the application, Fishbrain has grown huge overseas and has its largest user group in the Unites States. With 200 million people sport fishing around the world, they connect anglers to make fishing dreams come true, today and tomorrow.

About the role

As an Android Developer at Fishbrain you will be one of the core members in the Android development team and cooparate with the different cross-functional teams within your department. You will mainly be focusing on building and improving the social platform and have a chance to work with machine learning amongst other things in different projects at Fishbrain.

Here are some of the challenges they’re working on in the Android team:

How to make sure that their platform can scale for an even bigger user base (+10 million).In what ways they can analyze their data of 3 million logged catches and what they can learn from them in order to create an even better product.How to get their product and data fit into the Google’s ecosystem (Android Wear, Google Home etc).

There are plenty of projects in the sea and in order to solve challenges like these, they use the latest tech.

Fishbrain is looking for

You have preferably a few years of experience in Android development. You have experience working with Java and preferably Kotlin. Ideally you have coached a team in the past or in your current role. You need to be driven and have the ability to think critically and creatively. 

You communicate your ideas and opinions with your colleagues. A problem solving fella that is highly organized with a ”Just do it” kind of attitude. You know how to collaborate and you know how to get stuff done and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
